Five Ways to Discover Art and Culture
* Brolga Theatre Take in a show at Maryborough’s Brolga Theatre and Convention Centre. This first class theatre brings the finest international and national performers to the region. Popular for conventions, weddings and functions. It offers stunning river views, fantastic facilities and a 900+ seat raked auditorium. A new programme is available every month.
* View stunning displays of public art in the Mary River Parklands, reflecting the city’s days as a thriving river port and celebrating the contributions of South Sea Islander, Chinese and Aboriginal cultures to its character.
* Check out the local artistic talent at the Council owned Old Warehouse Gallery in Wharf Street at Portside. The exhibits in the gallery change constantly and feature touring exhibitions as well as works by members of the Maryborough Art Society.
* Parklands Join the Heritage City Art Festival held annually each June. This two week festival includes exhibitions and workshops by leading artists.
* Uncover a variety of streetscape art, sculptural pieces and architecturally spectacular heritage buildings along Maryborough’s inner city streets.

Details: Bottlebrush Arts and Crafts is a co-operative which aims to promote the work of local artists and crafts people through their gallery. The gallery displays and sells hand-crafted goods including pottery, sculpture, paintings, historical photos, needlework, china painting, dolls woodwork, folk art, handmade soaps and candles. Members will also take special orders for cakes, pottery, sewing, photo portraits and picture framing. The gallery is manned by volunteer members. Admission is free and there is an abundance of parking.

Details: Janets Art is a contemporary art gallery, gift, book and coffee shop housed in one of Maryborough's oldest shop fronts. Enjoy the relaxing background music and the lunch, morning and afternoon teas in the secret courtyard garden at the rear of the shop. The range of goods for sale includes jewellery, silk, woodwork, ceramics, paintings, prints, CDs, silk screened Japanese paper and a unique range of greeting cards. Open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 3pm on Saturday and every first Saturday of the month there is a free jazz session in the courtyard from 12 noon to 1pm.

Details: Maryborough Art Society operates the Old Warehouse Gallery in Portside Passage, at the rear of the courtyard behind the Military Museum. The gallery is open 10am-4pm Monday to Friday and on the last Sunday of the month from 10am-1pm. The Gallery is manned by volunteers so sometimes this might change. Exhibitions change monthly and there are frequently exhibits by other artist groups. Entry to the gallery is free and there is on street parking close by. The gallery is wheelchair friendly.
